Who we are

We’re Deana and Lizzie—two women of faith, survivors of narcissistic and spiritual abuse, and former wives to the same toxic man.

What began in heartbreak became a God-ordained mission to help other women find clarity, courage, and healing.

Surviving Toxic Relationships with The Matadoras is a faith-based community for women who are:

  • Questioning a toxic relationship

  • Finding strength to leave

  • Healing after leaving

  • Or staying—prayerfully, with boundaries, and discernment

We don’t judge the journey. We honor it.

Through real stories, biblical truth, and hard-won wisdom, we’re here to remind you:

You are not crazy.
You are not alone.
And you are deeply, deeply loved.

Listen up.

Deana was married to her ex-husband for 27 years. Before their divorce was finalized, Lizzie met him—and then married him. Six years later, Lizzie walked away from a marriage that made her feel emotionally abandoned and she had a deep sense that something wasn’t right, though she couldn’t quite name it. Just five days after the divorce was finalized, she uncovered letters and photos that revealed the truth: he had been living a double life with another woman—who had no idea Lizzie existed.
